Two men caught in a drugs sting were today jailed for a total of five-and-a-half years.

Robert Tinney and Robin Alcorn arranged to meet in Dundee, with Tinney, 55, travelling from Glasgow to drop off a cutting agent for cocaine.

Tinney claimed he was "just delivering something to that wee laddie".

Fiscal depute Saima Rasheed told Dundee Sheriff Court: "Police received intelligence that a meeting was to take place with accused Alcorn meeting a courier from the Glasgow area for a drugs transaction.

"Alcorn was seen to get in to a white Nissan Qashqai in Milton Street, Dundee.

"Officers approached and found Alcorn within and Tinney in the driver's seat.

"Alcorn was found in possession of a holdall containing £9,000 in cash.

"Accused Tinney told police 'I was just delivering the thing in that bag to that wee laddie. I've never done anything like this.'"

Two kilograms of benzocaine, a cutting agent used in the preparation of the supply of cocaine, were found in the car.

Robert Tinney, 55, of Castleby Street in Glasgow and Robin Alcorn, 20, of Meadowview Drive in Inchture, both admitted concern in the supply of cocaine at Milton Street, Dundee on July 18 last year.

Sheriff Alastair Brown jailed Tinney for 30 months and Alcorn for three years.

She said: "The fact is you have committed these offences and they are your responsibility."
