A Dundee mum says she's 'on tenterhooks' after three men tried to steal a German Shepherd from her 14-year-old boy.

Thomas Wilson was out walking the pup near Broughty Ferry on Saturday night when the group got out of a van.

They followed him and tried to grab his lead - before the teenager ran home with his pet.

Melissa says she's not letting the dog out of her sight. "We're constantly having to shut the doors and make sure that he's okay and in the house," she said.

"We're making sure all the doors and windows are secure. It's happening too much, we're just trying to keep our puppy safe

Thomas was out on Stannergate Road on when he was approached by the group of men. "It was actually quite scary knowing that there was three men actually truing to take my dog off me," he said.

"For anyone my age, and for anyone over my age as well. Just knowing that someone's trying to do something to your dog, or do something to you, you never know what's going to happen."

Last Friday we spoke to a woman who ran home with her dog from Baxter Park after men tried to lure her pup with treats.

Thomas has given descriptions of the suspects to officers over the weekend. We've contacted Police Scotland for comment.
