A Ninewells doctor who was diagnosed with coronavirus is telling Tay News what it's like to be back on the frontline.

Tom Fardon was ill for two weeks after developing a headache and sore throat.

He still has mild chest pains but is fit enough to be back at work.

He believes he's now able to better understand patients' problems.

"I certainly found patients struggled to describe what it was. But having been through it, I now understand what they're saying," he said.

"I understand what they mean when they try to describe this tightness across the chest and the feeling of being okay but at the slightest movement becoming breathless.

"I think some patients do get some reassurance that I've been through it, so I understand how they are feeling.

"To see that you can come through the other side and you can get back to normal, I think is helpful to them."

The respiratory consultant has been documenting his experiences and thoughts about the virus online.
