Dundee have completed the signing of former Motherwell player Tom Hateley.

The 26-year-old chose Dundee ahead of offers from clubs in England, Scotland and further afield.

Both Partick Thistle and Hibernian had offered the versatile Hateley deals but Dundee confirmed he had signed a two-year contract at Dens Park.

Jim Gannon signed the former Reading player for Motherwell in 2009 and he made more than 150 appearances in claret and amber, playing at right-back and midfield.

After a short spell at Tranmere, Hateley then moved to Poland where he spent two years at Slask Wroclaw before leaving in the summer.
