Xplore Dundee say they have faced a number of incidents of "deliberate damage done to buses" recently.

The company say they are in communication with Police over the incidents which have seen buses including their new fleet of electric emeralds.

Director and General Manager of the bus company David Phillips said the most recent incident occurred in Douglas.

Phillips said: "Unfortunately in recent times we've been experiencing vandalism on our services. Obviously one of them was our new electric buses which represents a significant investment for the business and it's really disappointing to see that obviously they've been damaged and it affects the usage for our customers."

He added: "We've obviously reached out to the Police. CCTV's been downloaded in relation to that incident and we're just waiting for that to be finalised now. Obviously we'll be working with the Police and hopefully if we get good quality CCTV to follow up on that."

Phillips has been calling on the vandals to stop, saying: "What we're really trying to appeal is just to ask people just to consider their actions and the potential impact of what they've done. It might be a bit of a laugh and a joke to them in the short term but it can have a real impact on people's abilities to get around and the last thing we want to do is inconvenience customers."

He added: "If anybody see's anything untoward we're really asking them to reach out to the driver or to get in touch and let us know. The chances are the people that are doing this are regular travellers and known to a number of people. We just want to keep everybody safe and keep our service operating."
