A report is revealing a plane crashed while being marshalled at Dundee Airport earlier this year.

The Bombardier Challenger 350 clipped a nearby lamppost on May 30.

Three crew members were on board but no-one was injured.

The Air Accidents Investigation Branch found the incident happened because the crew and the marshaller did not see warnings from wing spotters.

The AAIB report said: “Whilst being marshalled on the main apron the left wingtip of the aircraft collided with a lamppost.

“Neither the flight crew nor the marshaller were aware how close the wingtip was to the lamppost.

“Wing spotters positioned to mitigate this risk saw the impending collision and attempted to signal the aircraft to stop but neither the flight crew nor the marshaller saw the signals.”

The aircraft accident investigation branch highlighted a review of marshalling procedures would take place to prevent similar incidents.
