Distress flares raided from Arbroath boats

Officers believe the emergency equipment was taken between Saturday and Monday

Emergency distress flares have been stolen from a number of boats in Arbroath.

They were taken between 10.30pm Saturday evening and 5.00am yesterday at Arbroath Harbour.

Motorists who may have dash cam footage are being urged to come forward.

Sergeant Helen Ireland said: “This has shown a disregard to safety and has taken vital equipment from these boats.

“Our enquiries are ongoing and we are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed anything to contact police.

“We also ask any motorists with dash-cam footage of the area at the time to come forward.

“Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101 quoting incident 0297 of 4 June, 2024.

“Alternatively, you can contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
