The Summer Carnival at Perth Racecourse is a sell-out with a capacity crowd of 10,000 racegoers expected at the meeting on Saturday.

There'll be seven races run on the day, including the Spirits of Scone Stone of Destiny Handicap Hurdle race, which will happen for the first time as part of the venue's celebrations for Scotland's year of History, Heritage and Archaeology.

Hazel Peplinski, chief executive of Perth Racecourse said: “Because our Summer Carnival is on a Saturday we tend to attract our biggest crowd of the year and this year has been no exception with an unprecedented demand for tickets to the extent we are sold out in advance of the event which is fantastic.

However, I would like to stress the importance of allowing plenty of time to plan your journey and not to turn up without a ticket because we have already reached our capacity.

Fortunately the weekend forecast at this stage suggests Saturday shall be a fair day and quite warm, suitable for a summer carnival!”
