Deadline For Applications To Dundee’s Hogmanay Celebrations Grant Scheme
Its deadline day for community groups in Dundee looking for help to put on their Hogmanay bash.
It is open to community groups or cultural organisations to bring in 2016 in style, with help of a grant from the city council’s common good fund. Last year, more than £7,900 was awarded, with more than 1,200 people benefiting from the scheme. Central Baptist Church was just one of the successful applicants and they used the money to organise a party for all ages. Organiser, Colin Watson said: “The awarding of money, to support grass roots events, allows community groups to best meet the needs and wishes of many ordinary citizens.
“We used the money to buy food, soft drinks and party accessories. "Our programme of ceilidh dancing mixed with traditional and more innovative games meant there was something for everyone.”
Grants will range between £500 and £3,000, and the celebrations do not have to be on Hogmanay itself, but can take place between December 30 and January 3. Guidelines and applications can be found at
