Parking fees at Ninewells to be scrapped for three months and summer graduations cancelled at both Dundee universities
Parking fees at Dundee's Ninewells Hospital are to be scrapped for three months from next week, the Scottish Health Secretary has announced.
Visitors and staff currently have to pay but a deal has been struck between the Scottish Government, NHS Tayside and the car park's private operator SABA.
Kirsty Warden was handed a ticket when she was rushed into Ninewells to give birth, she welcomes the decision.
"My partner had to park the car and leave it there, otherwise he would have missed the birth," she said.
"It was a rushed situation so for anyone to not have to go through that, it would be amazing.
"It definitely put a taint on the birth, coming out of hospital and sorting out a parking fine is now what what you want to be doing."
Elsewhere in Tayside, Abertay University has joined Dundee University in cancelling summer graduations.
Bosses say a new date will be announced as soon as possible.
