The father of a Fife man who disappeared more than four years ago is calling on Justice Secretary Michael Matheson to appoint a new team within Police Scotland to take on his son's case.

23-year-old Allan was last seen outside Styx Nightclub in Glenrothes on November 3rd 2013 and despite the largest search effort ever seen in the Kingdom no trace of him has ever been found.

But his dad, Allan Sr, claims that officers have failed his son and wants the case looked at with fresh eyes.

He said: "It has been a complete shambles ever since Allan went missing.

"It has basically added to the heartbreak everybody has without Allan - police not contacting me sometimes for months, even trying to get hold of them at times seems impossible.

"It has taken a massive toll on my health, I'm tried all the time mentally and I know I'm fighting for my son and I'm doing the right thing".

He added: "We just want him home or some closure so we can actually move on with our lives".

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "The investigation into the circumstances surrounding Allan’s disappearance continues.

"The Major Investigation Team has been assisted by numerous specialists and we continue to assess, evaluate and action any new information which comes in that might assist our investigation.

"We continue to appeal for anyone who has information about Allan's disappearance to contact us. We remain in regular contact with Allan's family, updating them on our work as it progresses.

"Calls can be made to 101 quoting Operation Toner, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

A Scottish Government spokesperson said:“Our thoughts remain with Mr Bryant’s family. Investigations of a missing person are an operational matter for Police Scotland.

“We expect the service to give careful consideration and respond appropriately to all recommendations brought forward by the Police Investigations and Review Commissioner.”
