A cyclist has died after being found seriously injured on a rural Angus road.

The man was found outside Auchmithie School House around 7.30am but was pronounced dead at the scene.

He's been identified as 61-year-old Tansy Lee, a formal royal marine living in the Arbroath area.

Sergeant William Strachan, of the Dundee Road Policing Unit, said: “Officers were called to assist ambulance around 7.30am on Friday, 24 April, after a male cyclist was found with serious injuries outside Auchmithie School House in the Angus area.

"The man was sadly pronounced dead at the scene and the road remains closed to allow for an investigation to take place.

“Our thoughts remain with Mr Lee’s family at this sad time.

“Inquiries into the exact circumstances are ongoing, however we are not looking for any additional vehicles or individuals in connection with the incident. A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”
