Cycling Scotland conference in Perth
The two-day event continues at the city’s concert hall.
The Cycling Scotland Conference continues at Perth Concert Hall, offering delegates from across the country two days of study tours, events, workshops and high profile speakers.
It brings together more than 150 professionals, campaigners, volunteers and national and local politicians to share experiences, learn from each other and network to help support cycling in Scotland and beyond.
Record-breaking long-distance cyclist, adventurer, broadcaster, documentary maker and author Mark Beaumont, who himself hails from Perthshire, joined in the Perth City Tour.
He said: “It’s great to be in Perth, close to where I live and train, alongside so many influential people exploring ways to get more people cycling in Scotland.
“I am also delighted to be presenting Ruthvenfield Primary School with this cycle rack today. The school has shown great enthusiasm for cycling and outdoor learning and, by providing additional safe and secure bike parking, children will be able to travel to school by bike more easily,”
The Council's Roads Team has made road improvements and has been working with Cycling Scotland to deliver Bikeability Scotland cycle training to help school children to cycle safely on the roads and encourage them to carry on cycling into adulthood.
Following the conference, cycle racks will be presented to local primary schools taking part in the Bikeability Scotland training programme. Two of the primary schools receiving a cycle rack, Kinross and Ruthvenfield Primary Schools, are involved in Cycling Scotland's study.
Provost Liz Grant will also host a Civic Reception for the delegates which will be attended by Perth & Kinross Council's Enterprise & Infrastructure Committee Convener Councillor John Kellas.
