Crieff Primary School evacuated after "potential chemical leak"
A fault in the kitchen is being blamed for the incident
Children and staff at Crieff Primary School have been evacuated after a "potential chemical leak."
The school office says the issue is because of a fault in the kitchen.
All staff and children have been declared safe and police have now set up a cordon on Brioch Road after getting a call around 11:30am today.
Perth and Kinross Council says the evacuation was ordered after a member of staff took unwell and that parents have been contacted to arrange pick up.
A Perth and Kinross spokesperson said: “Crieff Primary School has been evacuated as a precaution after an adult working on the premises took unwell.
“Parents have been contacted by the school directly for pick-up as per normal arrangements.
“We are aware Scottish Ambulance and Scottish Fire and Rescue Service are on site and we will work with them.”
An email sent to parents by the school advises that the issue is because of an “undisclosed fault” in their kitchen.
It also asks for pupils to be picked up as soon as possible.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 11.30am on Thursday, 5 September, 2024, we were called to a report of a potential chemical leak within a school in Broich Road, Crieff.
“Emergency services are in attendance and the building has been evacuated as a precaution.
“A police cordon is in place and enquiries are ongoing.”
