It's claimed a rise in covid cases in Perth and Kinross are under control, despite Nicola Sturgeon warning she's keeping a close eye on the region.

It has the highest rate of infections per population in Tayside and Fife as of the 24th November.

Council Leader Murray Lyle says it's a concern but adds people shouldn't be alarmed.

"I'm confident if people are vigilant and everybody follows the guidelines then we will continue the suppress the virus in Perth and Kinross," he said.

"We've one specific outbreak which accounted for a significant number of infections and we are aware of it and we're monitoring it carefully.

"It's not a steep increase, but it is a concern. My reflection would be that people must adhere to the regulations."

Yesterday the First Minister said she was monitoring the situation "particularly carefully."

The whole of Tayside and Fife will remain in level 3 coronavirus restrictions.
