Celtic star Leigh Griffiths appears in court accused of speeding in Dundee
Celtic and Scotland striker Leigh Griffiths appeared in court accused of a speeding offence committed just days before his sensational World Cup qualifier double against England.
The Hoops star is alleged to have been driving his four-litre, 469 horsepower, Mercedes AMG C63 at 62mph on Dundee's Kingsway on June 3 this year.
The speed limit on the road is 50.
The case against Griffiths called today at Dundee Justice of the Peace court.
He spoke only to confirm his name before his solicitor Peter Malone told the court Griffiths was maintaining his not guilty plea.
Fiscal depute Laura Bruce said the Crown were ready to go to trial.
Griffiths was ordered to return to the JP court for his trial on February 26 - the day after the Hoops top of the table showdown with Aberdeen at Pittodrie.
The charge against Griffiths alleges that on June 3 this year at Kingsway West, Dundee, near the Myrekirk roundabout, Griffiths drove at 62mph in a 50mph zone.
Just seven days later Griffiths netted two stunning free kicks to put Scotland into a late lead against England at Hampden.
But a Harry Kane strike deep into injury time meant the game finished 2-2
