CCTV images have been released by police of a man who was seen jumping off the Tay Road Bridge on Monday night.

He was seen entering the bridge from the Dundee walkway, and appeared to enter the water from the Fife end.

Officers are urging anyone who might have been driving over the bridge at around 3:40pm to get in touch.

Despite a three-hour search of the River Tay by Broughty Ferry RNLI, and a rescue helicopter flown in from Prestwick, no trace of him has been found.

He is described as white, in his 50s, and was wearing a dark tammy style hat, with a black winter coat, jeans and black shoes.

Chief Inspector Nicky Russell said: ‘We need the assistance of the public to help us identify the man in the images.

"We have had nobody that matches the description reported as missing to us and we need to establish who this man is as soon as possible.

"Coastguard were contacted and carried out an extensive search of the river but to date there has been no sightings.

"If you recognise him, please get in touch with Police Scotland on 101 quoting reference CR/76/18".
