The soggy moggy was pulled from the freezing water on Tuesday by workmen

The SSPCA says it's hoping to reunite a lucky cat with its owners - after being rescued from the Arbroath harbour. The feline was pulled from the water by concerned workers on Tuesday. She's now being cared for by staff at the Petterden facility - who've named her Ariel - after the character from the Little Mermaid. Animal Rescue Officer Steph Alexander said: "Poor Ariel was frantically trying to clamber onto a boat with no luck when she was spotted. "We understand she was seen falling from the boat so it may be that she had jumped onto it when it was berthed. "She would soon have drowned so we're extremely glad the men saw her and acted quickly. They were able to reach her using a net before calling us for help. "Ariel was a shivering wreck when I arrived and had sustained a sore paw but she's doing really well now. "There are plenty of flats and houses near the harbour so it's possible she belongs to someone locally. "Hopefully we can reunite Ariel with her owner but if not we'll find this super friendly girl a loving new home." Anyone who recognises Ariel is being asked to contact the Scottish SPCA's Angus centre on 03000 999 999.
