An investigation's underway after a man tried to set a car on fire in Dundee- by throwing a bottle of lit flammable liquid at it.

It happened in Baldovie Place in Douglas, on Monday 27th November, over a week ago, but officers are still no further forward with finding the person responsible.

They are looking for a man, around 5 foot 10 inches, who was wearing a grey hooded top and grey tracksuit bottoms at the time.

He was seen setting the bottle on fire, and then launching it at a red Volkswagen Up, which was parked in a driveway.

The vehicle didn't go up in flames, but it was severely damaged, and police want to stress just how serious the consequences could have been.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: “While it is appreciated that this happened over a week ago and was quite late at night, the consequences of this incident could have been horrendous.

"“It is hoped that someone in the area may have seen the described person running off, or otherwise know who they are.

“If you have any information which could assist our investigation, please call 101 or speak to any Police officer.

“Alternatively, information can be given anonymously through Crime Stoppers on 0800 555 111".
