The AIG Women's Open tees off in St Andrews this week, for the first time since 2013.

The 144-strong field will be lead by world number one Nelly Korda.

Defending champion Lilia Vu and Olympic Gold medallist Lydia Ko are also among those vying for the final major of the year.

Fans flocking to the home of golf are being offered a special rail and bus ticket for travel to and from the Old Course.

ScotRail has partnered with Stagecoach to offer the two-in-on Golflink ticket. It includes return rail travel between any station in Scotland and Leuchars, the nearest station to the iconic course, as well as Stagecoach bus travel to and from the course.

The first buses depart Leuchars station for the course at:

• 08.15 on Wednesday, 21 August.

• 06.00 on Thursday, 22 August.

• 06.00 on Friday, 23 August.

• 07.15 on Saturday, 24 August.

• 08.00 on Sunday, 25 August.

Buses will continue to transport fans between the train station and the course throughout the day and up until the last train departs.

Claire Dickie, ScotRail Commercial Director, said: “ScotRail is delighted to partner with Stagecoach to support travel to and from the AIG Women’s Open in St Andrews.

“Our Golflink ticket has proven very popular with golf fans in the past as it’s a great way to combine train travel from anywhere on our network to Leuchars station.

“With frequent bus links to the Old Course included, it saves you time and helps your journey run smoothly.

“Purchasing your tickets in advance means less queuing and more viewing time. Tickets can be purchased via the ScotRail app, website, ticket offices, or on board our trains.”

Concession travel prices are not valid on GolfLink services.

Bookings can be made online, in person at staffed stations or over the phone.

ScotRail strongly advise passengers to plan ahead and check their journey the day before.

A temporary timetable remains in place throughout the Championship as pay talks between Scotrail and trade union ASLEF continue due to an ongoing dispute.
