A British Airways flight issued a distress call over the West of Scotland earlier.

It’s understood the 747 jumbo-jet was making the trip from Las Vegas to Heathrow when a passenger fell ill.

The plane landed safely in London just before 3pm this afternoon.

A spokesman for British Airways said: “The pilots requested a priority landing due to an individual on board feeling unwell.

“The call was made to the west of Scotland and the flight is continued to Heathrow.”
