Bridge Crash Accused Appears in Court
A man's appeared in court accused of destroying a set of stairs leading to a a dual carriageway footbridge in an alleged high-speed smash before running off.

John Duncan - who is said by prosecutors to be a learner driver - faced nine charges when he appeared from custody at Dundee Sheriff Court.
He is alleged to have first driven a white BMW car at "excessive speed" into a BP filling station on Dundee's Kingsway last Thursday JAN 21 - before then driving out again at excessive speed.
Prosecutors say he then failed to negotiate the roundabout at Strathmartine Road and drove into a pedestrian barrier at the access to the footbridge, damaging the barrier and vehicle.
It is alleged he caused injury to Roxanne Alcorn, a passenger in another car, during the collision and damaged the vehicle she was travelling in.
He is also said to have caused the stairs and pedestrian walkway on the bridge to be damaged.
The charges against Duncan state he drove without L-plates, without insurance and without an accompanying driver on the night of the crash.
He is also charge dwith failing to stop and provide his personal details after the crash, of failing to report the incident to police and failing to identify the driver involved in the collision on two separate occasions.
Duncan is also accused of driving without insurance, without displaying L-plates and while only possessing a provisional licence on January 11 in Beauly Avenue, Dundee.
Duncan, 22, of Dundee, appeared in private on petition at Dundee Sheriff Court.
He made no plea or declaration during a brief private hearing.
The case was continued for further examination and he was released on bail meantime.
