Part of Broughty Ferry beach and the esplanade has been sealed off to the public after a suspected ordnance was found.

The area in front of The Glass Pavilion is closed off, while several properties have been evacuated as a precaution.

Police and local coastguard teams are on site.

A HM coastguard spokesperson told us:

HM Coastguard has been responding to reports of ordnance at Broughty Ferry beach today (15 August). Alerted just after 11.30am, Arbroath Coastguard Rescue Team was sent to assist Police Scotland and Explosive Ordnance Disposal by providing safety cover."
