Bogus Callers Warning In Tayside

A four figure sum of cash was taken from a householder in Arbroath moments after a similar incident in Broughty Ferry

We're being told to remain on our guard against bogus callers - after a four figure sum of cash was taken from a house in Arbroath. It's after three men -who turned up at an address in Bishoploch Road on Tuesday morning - told occupants they needed roofing repairs. After receiving the money the men said they would return to carry out the work but failed to do so. The first man is described as being between 40 to 45-years-old, about five feet 10 inches tall, of heavy build, with fair hair and was wearing a grey woollen hat, dark anorak and grey jogging bottoms. The second man is described as being 35 to 40-years-old, of heavy build, with short black hair and was wearing a dark jacket, navy jeans and dark-coloured trainers. The third man is described as being in his early 20s, about five feet 6 inches tall, of slim build, with short fair hair and was wearing a dark coloured rain coat, blue jeans and trainers. There was a similar incident in Broughty Ferry's Southampton Road earlier the same morning. Two men offered to carry out roof repairs at the property and asked the occupier for a substantial sum of money in cash. Fortunately a family member intervened causing the men to leave. The suspicious circumstances were then reported to police. The men were between 30 and 40-years old, one of whom was about five feet six inches tall and was wearing a grey coloured fleece. The other man was described as heavy build.
