Police confirm body of a woman found in Glenrothes

The family of missing 35-year old Kathleen Ritchie have been informed.

Fife Police say a body has been found in Glenrothes, and the family of missing Kathleen Ritchie have been informed.

35-year old Kathleen has not been seen since Friday night.

She was last seen in the Annandale Gardens area in Glenrothes, wearing a red jacket and carrying a pink handbag.

Police say the death is not being treated as suspicious.

Police released the following statement:

"Officers in Glenrothes can confirm that the body of a woman was found near a footpath on Ivanhoe Drive around 8.05pm on Sunday, 23 May.

The family of missing woman Kathleen Ritchie, who had been missing since Friday, 21 May, have been made aware of the discovery.

Formal identification is yet to take place and a post mortem will be carried out in due course. The death is currently being treated as unexplained, but there are not thought to be any suspicious circumstances."
