Body found in River Tay identified as missing man Iain Guthrie

The body was found in the River Tay at Newburgh on February.

A man whose body was recovered from a river in Fife has been named by police.

The body of Iain Guthrie, 21, was found in the River Tay at Newburgh on February 24.

He was reported missing on December 19, which prompted a search of the river before he was found.

A police spokesman said: "Police Scotland can confirm that following the recovery of a man's body from the River Tay at Newburgh, Fife, on February 24, he has now been formally identified.

"He has been named as missing Iain Guthrie, 21, from Perth.''

Police Scotland said there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding his death and a report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal.
