Police believe a body found in a burned out holiday lodge near Dundee is that of a missing Aberdeen man.

Jamie McLennan had been on a night out with friends in the West Port area of the city when he became separated from them at around 3.30am on Thursday morning.

It's thought the 26-year-old visited two guests at the Piperdam Resort, but they were not in the lodge when the fire broke out.

Formal identification is to take place but police say Jamie's family have been informed.

The blaze is being treated as unexplained.

No other lodges or buildings at the resort were affected by the fire.

A joint investigation with Scottish Fire and Rescue Service is ongoing into what caused the blaze.
