Body found on Arbroath beach that of missing teenager Ralphie Smith

The body of a teenager which was recovered from a beach in Angus has been identified by police.

Ralph Smith, 18, was discovered by a dog walker in Arbroath on Sunday March 26, a month after he had fallen from cliffs in the town.

His disappearance had sparked a search by the coastguard helicopter, lifeboats and rescue teams.

Police Scotland recovered his body at a beach near Victoria Park and on Thursday they confirmed his identity.

A spokesman said: As with all sudden deaths, a report will be sent to the procurator fiscal.''
