"Beyond Sadistic" Man who Murdered his 28 Year Old Girlfriend in Stirling, Jailed for at least 23 Years
Judge said Christopher McGowan "may never be released" from Prison.
A man who brutally murdered his girlfriend in her Stirling home while on bail, has been jailed for at least 23 years.
28 year old Christopher McGowan was sentenced at the High Court in Edinburgh. He was found guilty on 28 September, following a trial at the High Court in Stirling.
Claire Inglis - also 28 - died at her home in Cultenhove Crescent, St Ninians in November 2021 after being attacked by McGowan.
Last month, a trial heard the young mum had “at least” 76 separate injuries, including two black eyes and a fractured bone in her neck.
Detective Inspector Will Harley, Forth Valley CID, said “This was a horrendous crime, which involved significant levels of violence. Christopher McGowan cruelly took Claire’s life, showing complete disregard for her and her family."
The victim's family watched from the public gallery, visibly upset as the 28 year old was taken down, showing no emotion as he looked towards them.
Judge Michael O’Grady described McGowan’s crimes as “beyond sadistic”, and was at pains to say the 23 years sentence was just a minimum before he’d be granted parole - saying it was possible he “may never be released”.
