Award For Broughty Ferry Beach

Ahead of the official bathing season this weekend - Broughty Ferry beach has unfurled its latest environment award.

The blue flag is flying high after the shoreline met stringent environment targets.

Here is Dundee City Council’s environment convener, Councillor Craig Melville:

He said: “We are delighted to receive this Resort Seaside Award status for Broughty Ferry beach. “The city council's ongoing maintenance of the beach area provides a leisure destination that meets very strict standards.

"It is a top class facility and I am sure it will be enjoyed by many people this year.

“I would ask everyone to Take Price in Your Beach and help keep this attractive area clean.

The unveiling of the flag will be used as the latest stage in Dundee City Council’s Take Pride in Your City initiative.

The campaign aims to motivate city residents to help in the effort to prevent litter, dog fouling, chewing gum, fly-tipping and graffiti from blighting neighbourhoods.
