Police say drivers with dashboard cameras who were in Dunkeld on Tuesday, November 29, may hold the key to finding a robber who targeted a bank in the town.

A man, in his 20s or 30s, went into the High Street branch of the Bank of Scotland at around 11-30am and demanded cash, leaving with a sum of cash.

Officers tell us staff who were working there at the time were left shaken, but weren’t hurt.

Now police are appealing for anyone who was in the area between 9am and 12pm to get in touch.

Detective Inspector Tom Leonard said: “A man, aged in his 20s or 30s, entered the bank, demanded cash and left with a sum of money. Although staff at the bank were uninjured, they were naturally distressed by the incident.

“I would like to reassure the public that crimes of this nature are thankfully rare and we will have increased patrols in the area as enquiries into the incident continue.

“Whilst we are appealing for residents, visitors and local business to assist us with information, we are also aware that there were a number of courier companies and delivery vans in Dunkeld at the time. I would ask you to report any information to us. Did you see a man matching this description in the area?

“We are particularly interested to speak to any drivers with dashboard cameras who may have been travelling in Dunkeld this morning and we would also like to speak to any residents or local businesses with CCTV cameras.”

The man police are keen to trace is described as being white, about five feet nine inches tall and of stocky build.

At the time, he was wearing a dark hooded top with a red motif on the chest and blue jeans.

He was last seen in the area of St Ninians Gardens.
