The families of two missing people in Fife are waiting to find out the identity of human remains found in Glenrothes yesterday afternoon.

Police said it is not possible to tell if the body, discovered in Riverside Park, is male or female and a full forensic examination is being carried out.

Officers have contacted the families of "a number'' of missing men from the area to make them aware of the discovery.

39-year-old Wayne Fleming, known as 'Bagsy', was last heard from in March and Allan Bryant, 24, has not been seen since leaving a nightclub in the town in November 2013.

Chief Inspector Stevie Hamilton said: "Whilst the investigation is still at an early stage we have made contact with the next of kin of a number of local missing men from the Glenrothes area to make them aware of this discovery.

"A detailed forensic examination will be required and this will take some time to complete.''
