"Statistically it's not of any great significance as to last year. However, we are targeting it just due to the new model that is in place at the minute and it is something that we are looking at."

On the new policing and multi-agency approach in the city, she said: "We've been engaging with the retail premises, the fast food outlets, who have taken a proactive approach at addressing any issues with young people as well.

"And with early intervention from the Police there has been a big impact over the last few weeks and we are seeing a reduction of calls already."

Sergeant Taylor added: "I would definitely say it's on no par in relation to the larger cities in Scotland and we don't have an epidemic of such. The city centre isn't under a vast amount of scrutiny because the number of calls that are taking place and we are dealing with it accordingly."
