Angus rapist jailed for decade over campaign of abuse
A sex attacker who raped a young mum while on bail for other abuse charges has been jailed for 10 years.
Rick Davidson, 48, pounced on the woman, who described her ordeal as feeling like it lasted “forever”.
Davidson struck at his home in Forfar, Angus having earlier met the 27 year-old online.
He had been allowed bail twice before carrying out the terrifying sex attack.
This included being freed on September 26 last year for allegedly breaching an earlier bail order.
A judge heard how this was just a week before he then raped the woman.
Davidson was today sentenced at the High Court in Glasgow.
He had been convicted at a trial in Edinburgh of rape and eight assault charges against four other women and a boy.
The offences occurred between 1995 and 2017.
Lord Arthurson said the crimes involved a “high level of planning and manipulation”.
Davidson was also described as a “high risk” danger to women.
The judge ordered Davidson to be monitored for five years on his release. He was further put on the sex offenders list indefinitely.
The rape victim had never met Davidson before the attack on October 3 last year.
She agreed to go to his home after they were in contact on social media.
The desperate mum had been struggling for cash for her daughter's birthday.
She then offered to have sex with Davidson was money.
But, he told her: “I don't pay for sex.”
Davidson instead subjected the woman to a violent ordeal at his home.
The victim recalled: “Things got heated very quickly. He pushed me onto the bed and he raped me.
“When he pushed me down he slammed my head off the floor.”
Prosecutor Derick Nelson asked how long the rape lasted.
She replied: “I don't know...it felt like forever.”
The mum felt “helpless” adding: “I was asking him to get off. I was just trying to find a safe place. I was screaming and panicking.”
Jurors were told – amongst Davidson's other victims – was a woman he hit with a lit cigarette because she was wearing a low cut top.
Davidson had denied the crimes during a 10-day trial.
