An Angus farmer is hitting out after hundreds of pounds worth of straw bales were set alight.

Firefighters were called to Newton Farm near Forfar around half yesterday.

24 bales were destroyed - Louise Nicoll says she's disgusted.

"We are farmers who are fighting every day, working every single hour to produce food for this country, and you get people that come and do this," she said.

"It's so inconsiderate."

Police Scotland confirmed they're treating the fire as unexplained.

"We were called around 6pm on Tuesday, 14 April, 2020, following reports of a fire at Newton of Fotheringham Farm, Forfar.

Enquiries are ongoing to establish the exact cause of the fire which is currently being treated as unexplained."
