Angus Council leader thinks region will stay in tier 3 despite drop in cases
The First Minister will review the coronavirus restrictions this afternoon
Angus Council chiefs fear despite a drop in infection rates, level three restrictions won't be eased this afternoon.
The number of positive cases in the last week are now lower there than councils in the north east of the country, which are living under tier 2 rules.
Council leader David Fairweather thinks higher rates elsewhere in Tayside will work against them.
"Angus, Perth and Kinross and Dundee are basically all together in this. Which is unfortunate for me, because I do feel we are not being treated individually as individual authorities," he said.
"The figures are probably still a bit high for Public Health Scotland to believe we should be coming back to tier 2.
"However, if it continues to go down I will certainly be suggesting the following week that tier 2 is a level Angus should be in."
The Angus Council Leader confirmed he hasn't held any discussions with ministers about a potential change in measures, and is expecting no move in levels.
Latest figures show there've been just under 70 cases in the region per 100,000 people in a week.
This compares to 90.4 in Dundee, 98.7 in Perth and Kinross and 99.6 in Fife. Renfrewshire currently has the highest rate in Scotland at 215.
