The dad of missing Glenrothes man Allan Bryant says he is disappointed police did not get in touch with him sooner, after a human bone was found on a St Andrews golf course.

Officers say it was discovered near Castle Golf Club in St Andrews around 7:30pm on Sunday April 4.

Allan Bryant Snr says he found out about it on social media.

It was later confirmed not to belong to his son.

Allan Jnr was last seen after a night out in the town in November 2013.

His family have spent years searching for answers.

Speaking to Tay FM, Allan Snr said: "We don't want to find out through social media.

"We want to find out through the police, and we want the police to keep on top of it and to keep my family updated when things like this happen, because they don't happen often in Fife.

"They just fail to understand what you're going through, and how much this affects you as a family.

"Dealing with Allan being missing every day is hard enough, but when something like this happens, we just want understanding from the police."

We have asked Police Scotland to comment.
