83-year-old woman in a 'critical' condition after being hit by a car in Methil

An 83-year-old woman remains in a 'critical' condition in hospital after being hit by a car in Methil yesterday afternoon.

The incident happened on the town's Wellesley Road near to the junction with Patterson Street at around 12.30pm when the female pedestrian was involved in a collision with a silver Hyundai i20.

The woman sustained several serious injuries. She was treated at the scene by the Scottish Ambulance Service and was then taken to the Victoria Hospital, Kirkcaldy.

The driver of the Hyundai was uninjured. The road was temporarily closed while initial inquiries were conducted and was reopened around an hour later.

Officers are currently investigating and are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward.

Police Sergeant James Henry of Fife Division’s Road Policing Unit said: “We are currently investigating this collision and we are eager to speak to anyone who may have witnessed it.

“I would ask that anyone who was on Wellesley Road around 12.30pm on Saturday, November 5, and has information that can assist our inquiries, to come forward and get in touch with us immediately.”
