73-year-old woman dies following a two-vehicle crash on the A9

Eight others were taken to hospital for minor injuries

A 73-year-old woman has died and eight people have been injured following a two-vehicle crash on the A9 near Slochd, 17 miles south of Inverness.

The incident, in which a silver Audi A4 and a white Volvo B12 single deck coach collided, happened at around 7:45pm yesterday.

Eight passengers from the coach were taken to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness, where they were treated for minor injuries and later released.

The driver of the Audi was pronounced dead at the scene.

The road, which was closed yesterday after the incident, has since re-opened.

Sergeant Neil MacDonald said:

“Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the woman who died and our enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of what happened.

“I am appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the crash or who has dash-cam footage that could assist with our investigation to get in touch.

“Anyone with information is asked to call Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 3350 of Friday, 16 September, 2022.”
