22-year-old in Ninewells with critical injuries after serious crash on A85

Two men are in hospital, one in a critical condition, following a serious crash on the A85 near Methven on Monday night.

The crash happened at around 9:30pm involving a Vauxhall Astra and a Honda Jazz, near to Methven Castle.

The stretch of road was closed in both directions overnight at the Tibbermore junction as Police and ambulance services attended the scene, where two men were taken by ambulance to hospital.

The 22-year-old driver of the Vauxhall Astra is in a critical condition in Ninwells. The 18-year-old passenger is in a stable condition.

The 32-year-old female driver of the Honda Jazz and a 7-year-old girl, who was a passenger in the car, were both taken to Ninewells Hospital to be checked over.

The road re-opened at 7.30am this morning.

Police are now appealing for any witnesses to the crash to come forward.

Sergeant John Learmonth from Perth Road Policing Department said: “Our investigation into this collision is continuing and I would appeal to any witnesses who have not yet spoken to police, or anyone with information, to contact us.

“I would also ask anyone driving on this road at the time of the crash or just before it took place who has dash-cam footage to speak to officers as this may assist our enquiry.”
