This Morning bosses 'make decision' over Phillip Schofield's replacement

He resigned from ITV in May

It's been over two months since Phillip Schofield made the decision to leave his presenting role on This Morning, before resigning from ITV completely after admitting to a consensual affair with a younger male colleague. And after Holly Willoughby returned to the show, many viewers thought a decision would be made sooner rather than later made about his replacement.

However, with Holly now on her annual Summer break and no announcement up until now, it sounds like ITV bosses have decided against permanently replacing Phillip, and instead making it 'Holly's show'.

Although the likes of Craig Doyle and Josie Gibson have been sitting alongside Holly in recent weeks, as well as Friday hosts Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary, an ITV source told Mail Online: "It will essentially be Holly's show. Bosses hope that they can put all of the Schofield scandal behind them and start concentrating on the content of the show rather than the twosome presenting it.

"At least this way there won't be any falling out.

"Holly is so excited about the plan, she loves Josie, Craig, Alison and Dermot."

This Morning viewers were left confused at Holly's whereabouts earlier this month, after the 42-year-old didn't appear on the show the week commencing 10th July.

Holly's last show before her break took place on Thursday 6th July, where she failed to mention she was heading off on her holidays.

This Morning's schedule, alongside shows like Good Morning Britain, Lorraine and Loose Women are all disrupted at the moment, as ITV show coverage of the FIFA Women's World Cup, which is taking place in Australia and New Zealand.
