Richard Madeley hints that he would RETURN to I’m A Celeb
On one condition
Last updated 30th Nov 2021
Presenter and journalist Richard Madeley’s time in the I’m A Celeb castle was unfortunately cut short after he was rushed to hospital during the middle of the night.
Last week, the Good Morning Britain presenter released a statement revealing that he had been forced to quit this year's show due to breaking his 'Covid bubble'.
However, as Richard reunited with his family back in London, he appeared on Good Morning Britain to discuss his experience and tease a potential return to the I’m A Celeb camp.
But there’s a twist, he will only go back if the show is back in Australia.
When asked by Ben Shepherd and Susanna Reid if he’d consider going back on the show after his time was cut short, he replied: “Give me a break! It'd depend on them asking me, and god I've only just come out.”
However, he did warm to the idea, adding: "Never say never, I'd certainly consider it.”
Richard then revealed that he wouldn’t go back to the castle as he’s “done it” and would much rather go somewhere warmer.
He admitted: "If you get chucked in the clink, as we were in the castle, it was freezing. We were actually shivering. Whereas if you're cast into jail in the jungle... at least it's warm."
During the interview, Richard opened up about what caused his hospital dash on Monday’s (29th November) Good Morning Britain, he said: “I think I got dehydrated. It was actually quite disturbing.
“I'd been up for 20 hours, I don't think I got to bed until 4, 4.30 in the morning. I'm quite bad at remembering to drink anyway.
“As I snuggled in for the night, I thought I haven't had a drink, I'll have a big drink in the morning, I woke up babbling, I didn't know where I was, I couldn't string a sentence together.”
He added: “I got a clean bill of health. But that's COVID precautions isn't it? If it wasn't for COVID I'd have been out for 2 hours and I would've been back by half 10 in the morning.
“I wanted to go back but there was no way I could risk going back in. It just wasn't an option, they are so strict about it. If I had the bug and went back to camp and it spread, it would have killed the series.
“We're all sleeping in the same dormitories, if anyone has the bug it's gonna spread.
“ITV has a proper duty of care. If you have someone in that castle talking nonsense, they have to check it out.”
