Date for final ever episode of Holby City confirmed
The hit drama has been axed
If you're a fan of hit BBC hospital drama Holby City, you might want to look away now, because the date for the final ever episode has been confirmed, and it's this month!
The show, which has been on our screens for a massive 23 years, has been cancelled by the BBC, and now it's been confirmed the final episode will hit our screens on Tuesday 29th March.
The news comes months after BBC bosses confirmed the show would be coming to an end in March 2022.
The statement at the time read: "We are incredibly proud of Holby City but it’s with great sadness that we are announcing that after 23 years, the show will end on screen in March of next year.
“We sometimes have to make difficult decisions to make room for new opportunities and as part of the BBC’s commitment to make more programmes across the UK, we have taken the difficult decision to bring the show to a close in order to reshape the BBC’s drama slate to better reflect, represent and serve all parts of the country. We would like to take this opportunity to thank the amazing team at BBC Studios and all the cast and crew who have been involved in the show since 1999.
“Holby has been a stalwart with audiences, delighting millions of viewers each week and winning hundreds of awards with a compelling mix of cutting edge medical stories and explosive personal stories.
“We look forward to working with the team over the coming months to ensure that when it ends, Holby goes out on a high.”

Now that the cast and crew have finished filming, earlier this week actor Alex Walkinshaw, who plays Fletch in both Holby and Casualty, revealed vital hospital equipment from the show will be donated to the NHS and local charities.
Speaking to metro.co.uk, Alex said: "I think most of the stuff is going to the NHS and charities, as well as hospital shows like Casualty and Doctors. I think that’s great. We’ve got clothes, coats and things, that’s all going to be sent to refugee charities.
"Local charities are going to benefit from the extra stuff we still have. So I’ll let the stuff go to people who actually need it."
Created by Tony McHale and Mal Young as a spin-off to Casualty, Holby City first aired way back in January 1999.
Just like Casualty, the show follows the lives of the staff and patients at fictional hospital Holby City Hospital. A number of high-profile actors have appeared on the show over the last two decades, including the likes of Patsy Kensit, Hugh Quarshie, Davood Ghadami and Joe McFadden.
Holby City continues on BBC One for the next few weeks until the final episode hits our screens on Tuesday 29th March.
