Emmerdale shut down filming after sad death of crew member
As a 'mark of respect'
Emmerdale bosses made the decision to stop filming yesterday (Thursday 25th March) as a mark of respect after a beloved member of the crew sadly passed away.
Although the crew member was not named, a spokesperson for the popular ITV soap told Digital Spy, "We can confirm an Emmerdale crew member has very sadly passed away.
"Our sincerest and heartfelt condolences go out to the family, friends and loved ones of our colleague.
"As a mark of respect, we have stood filming down for today. We'd like to abide by the family's wishes for privacy at this very sad time and we'd ask the media to be respectful of this."
Filming is due to resume today (Friday 26th March).
Check out all of the Emmerdale spoilers for next week:
It's the day of Paul and Mandy's wedding and Aaron tells Paul to meet him at the Dingle's for a 'pre wedding surprise'. When Paul arrives, Aaron has got Connor bound and gagged and with a menacing glint in his eye, Paul tells Aaron to leave him alone with Connor...
Later on, Liv passes Connor and noticing him looking startled, wants to know what happened. What Connor tells Liv leaves her chilled, the pieces falling into place. Liv tracks down Aaron and tells him they need to convince Vinny to tell the truth about Paul.
At the pub, Mandy is preparing for her big day but can feel something isn't right. As she wonders where her son and husband to be are, she's unaware that Vinny is once getting the blunt end of his dad's bad mood.
After Liv confronted Paul about his violence, it's clear he's seething and while Liv manages to get away unscathed, Paul ends up taking his fury out on his son. Has Liv put her friend in even more danger?
Elsewhere, Jimmy is gutted to realise that Juliette has once again scuppered a business deal for them, meaning they're seriously low on cash to cover their legal costs for Carl.
Eager to find a solution, Nicola reaches out to Mack who is only too happy to offer her some work, while Nicola is wary of asking about the details, knowing he's probably up to no good.
Later Jimmy is having a rest in his van on a layby when he takes a call from a panicked Mack, saying Nicola is in trouble with Julietter's private investigator. Speeding off to his wife's aid, Jimmy skids on a corner and is momentarily blinded by the light in his eyes as he loses control of the van...
The sad news comes after the soap, along with every other TV show on the box, was forced to postpone filming last year due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
Bosses released a statement for both Emmerdale and Coronation Street in mid-March, revealing production would stop from Monday 23rd March 2020 and the soap would go down to three episodes per week.
However, after a number of restrictions were lifted, production was able to resume with some socially distanced filming, until the soap was forced to temporarily shut down in January to undergo some 'intense cleaning' following an outbreak.
Emmerdale is now back up to six episodes per week, with the popular soap airing on ITV at 7pm.
