Emily is Paris is the rom-com taking Netflix by storm! From saucy romance to lavish parties, we follow the bubbly Emily Cooper on her journey as she moves from Chicago to Paris. With the show's fourth season out now, and a fifth being confirmed, we thought we'd take a look at everything you need to know about the series - including the important stuff like who stars in the show, where in Paris (and beyond) it's filmed and what outfits they wear...

What is Emily in Paris?

Emily in Paris is a Netflix rom-com set in Paris, France. It follows the life of Emily Cooper, played by Lily Collins, as she's given the career opportunity of a lifetime to move from Chicago to Paris for a year.

Despite her enthusiasm, the employees of the company she joins in France, called Savoir, don't warm to her as she can't speak any French. However, that doesn't stop Emily excelling at her job and making loads of friends (and a few enemies) in the city of love.

Created by Darren Star, who has also created Beverly Hills 90210 and Sex and the City, Emily in Paris has been nominated for both Emmys and Golden Globes.

How many seasons are there?

There are currently four seasons of Emily in Paris available to stream on Netflix, the first season was released in October 2020, followed by season two in December 2021, and season three in December 2022.

Season four of Emily In Paris started production in January 2024, and it was later announced the show would be released in two parts.

Now, following the release of the fourth season, a fifth season has been confirmed by Netflix.

When is season 4 out?

Part one landed on Thursday 15th August 2024.

Part two landed on Thursday 12th September 2024.

What do we know about series four?

Following the drop of season two, Netflix confirmed in January 2022 that they would be renewing the series for two more seasons. The streaming platform posted the exciting news on their socials, which was greeted with huge excitement, getting more than 37K likes on Twitter alone.

Speaking to Entertainment Tonight at the Academy of Museum of Motion Pictures, for the ninth annual Breakthrough Prize Ceremony, Lily said she thought the series could go "on and on" if the audience want it.

When asked what she knew about the fourth season, she said: "I don't actually know much! I just know, obviously, the many cliffhangers, and there's multiple ways in which it could go. I just know that there's gonna be obviously more drama, more laughs and more fashion and more travel. I think, so I'm really excited."

In January 2024 it was announced that season four had started production, with Lily posting some photos with the script.

Is there a trailer?

On Monday 22nd July, Netflix released the first trailer for Emily in Paris season four, writing: 'Time to chic things up! Emily in Paris Season 4 Part 1 arrives on Netflix on August 15. Part 2 will premiere on September 12'. (sic)

The trailer for part two was then released on 26th August, showing Emily and the gang take a lavish trip to Rome, Italy.

When was the last season released?

Before season four arrived, Emily in Paris season three was released on Netflix on 21st December 2022. The release date was announced by the show on social media, when they also shared some clips from the then-upcoming series. In the video, Emily can be seen making the 'hardest decision' of her life, but it might not be what you were expecting...

As the countdown to the new series began, the show, and Lily Collins began to amp up the excitement as they shared the show's poster - showing Emily wearing a huge pink gown. Very fabulous!

Emily Cooper played by Lily Collins

Emily Cooper is the title character in Emily in Paris, she is chosen by her boss Madeline Wheeler (Kate Walsh), to work at a marketing firm in Paris that the company has just acquired. Taking the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, Emily jets off to Paris for a year, where she meets several love interests.
Lily, who is Phil Collins' daughter has also starred in The English Teacher and Love, Rosie. In 2016 she received a Golden Globe Award nomination for Best Actress – Motion Picture Musical or Comedy for her role in Rules Don't Apply.

Sylvie played by Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu

Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu plays the role of Emily's boss Sylvie. Sylvie is a strict boss who doesn't take any nonsense and makes sure that Emily knows her not speaking French isn't ideal.
Philippine as appeared in many French language productions including the 2020 Netflix series Call My Agent!

Mindy Chen played by Ashley Park

Mindy Chen is on of Emily's first friends in Paris. They meet when Emily is out having lunch by herself and Mindy is out with the children she looks after.
Mindy and Emily soon become good friends and Emily's confidant.
Ashley is mainly known for her work on stage including her portrayal of Gretchen Wieners in Mean Girls which was nominated for a 2018 Tony Award.

Gabriel played by Lucas Bravo

Gabriel is Emily's downstairs neighbour. Due to the different floor naming convention in France Emily perpetually gets confused which floor she's on and regularly tries to get into Gabriel's flat.
Gabriel is also a talented chef and works across the road at a restaurant which he eventually buys with backing from Antoine.
The pair become friends and eventually an awkward love triangle forms between them and Gabriel's on-off girlfriend Camille.
Lucas has appeared in some French TV shows and more recently films which are in post-production. He also works as a model.

Camille played by Camille Razat

Camille Razat plays Camille, Gabriel's girlfriend. Camille and Emily meet at a flower stall when Camille comes to Emily's help with the language barrier. The two become good friends, but things turn a bit sour when Emily and Camille's boyfriend Gabriel share an impromptu kiss.
Camille has appeared in a number of French films and TV shows including The Disappearance which was an eight-part police thriller mini-series, shown in the UK with subtitles.

Luc and Julien played by Bruno Gouery and Samuel Arnold

Luc and Julien are a comedy duo who work with Emily and Sylvie. The pair are rarely seen apart and find themselves trying to help Emily out get across her ideas when her lack of French gets in the way.

Antoine Lambert played by William Abadie

Antoine Lambert runs Maison Lavaux, a perfume company Savior work for. It's later revealed that Sylvie and Antoine have a longstanding affair and Savoir have been doing work for his company at a much lower price.

Madeline Wheeler played by Kate Walsh

Kate Walsh plays the role of Emily's boss in Chicago, Madeline Wheeler, who find herself unexpectedly pregnant. Unable to travel to Paris she asks Emily to take her place.
Kate is best known for her roles in Grey's Anatomy, Private Practice and Netflix series 13 Reasons Why.

Thomas played by Julien Floreancig

Thomas is a French snobbish philosophy professor played by Julien Floreancig is brief love interest of Emily's. Emily and Thomas meet at the café and has a few dates, but after having a double date with Gabriel and Camille, Gabriel tells Emily that he thinks he's snobbish.
However, it takes Emily a few more days to realise that Gabriel is right when she invites him along to the ballet, but he says Swan Lake is for tourists.

Pierre Cadault played by Jean-Christophe Bouvet

Pierre Cadault is a larger than life French designer who has a love-hate relationship with Savoir. At their first meeting, Emily unintentionally offends Pierre with a charm on her handbag. However, with some sweet talking, he comes around and decides to stay with the marketing firm.

Mathieu Cadault played by Charles Martins

Mathieu Cadault is the nephew of Pierre Cadault, played by Charles Martins. He appears throughout the series, becoming a love interest of Emily's towards the end of the first season, however things turn sour in the second season when they're meant to be having a romantic weekend away in St Tropez, but things don't go to plan.

Alfie played by Lucien Laviscount

Alfie is a British businessman, played by Lucien Laviscount, who has also appeared in Coronation Street, Grange Hill and Waterloo Road.
Alfie meets Emily at the French class they both attend. Despite seeming to hate each other, as Alfie doesn't take the lessons seriously they end up together for most of season two.

Is Emily in Paris based on a true story?

No, Emily in Paris is not based on a true story, or on a book. The TV series was created by Darren Star, who has also created a number of other popular shows.

Is it actually filmed in Paris?

Oui! Most of Emily in Paris is filmed on location in the French capital, Paris. There are a number of different locations used in the series, including, Place de l'Estrapade, 5th arrondissement, which is where Emily and Gabrielle's apartments are located, as well as Place de Valois, 1st arrondissement, the location of the marketing firm Savoir.

Pont Alexandre III is also a famous bridge in the city, and the backdrop to the advert including a nude model that Emily has objections to.

Further afield, in the second season, Emily in Paris filmed on location in St Tropez, in the south of France, known for its glamorous seafront and celebrities' yachts.

A number of episodes in season four, part two were filmed on location in Rome, Italy.

Emily's outfits on the show

Many of the outfits worn in Emily in Paris are made by designers, as you'd expect on a show about fashion and Paris. Patricia Fields, legendary costume designer, worked on the show picking some of the most amazing outfits for Emily and the rest of the characters in Emily in Paris.

When was season two released?

Emily in Paris season two is officially available to watch on Netflix now! All 10 episodes of the new series landed on 22nd December 2021 - the perfect Christmas gift!

When did season two begin production?

After THAT ending, which saw Emily keep her job at marketing company Savoir, and her love interest Gabriel sign a deal to own the restaurant Les Deux Compères, fans were left calling out for more. On 3rd May 2021, the show's official Instagram wrote: 'Bonjour from Paris (and maybe some other areas of France😉)! We’re officially back in production on Season 2!' (sic).

The news was welcomed with open arms by fans across the globe, with one writing: 'Oui Oui!! That is so exciting! ❤️❤️ (sic), and another excitedly commenting: 'YAS!🔥🔥🔥What a great news to start this week!' (sic).

When was series two announced?

Netflix announced that they were answering our Emily In Paris-shaped prayers back in November 2020, by confirming that a second series was on its way.

The streaming giant shared a video of each cast member saying "Deux" (Two), text at the end reads: 'Deux is always better than Un. Emily In Paris will return for Season 2!'

Unsurprisingly, fans of the show were quick to express their excitement at the news.

One commented, 'OMG YESSSSSSSS', with another writing, 'YES ! IM SO EXCITED'. A third then added, 'Finally some good news!!!'.

Who is in Emily in Paris season two?

Although Netflix did not officially announce any new characters, the official first-look photos suggested we may be have some new faces to obsess over in the second series.

The photos also confirmed that we would be saying "bonjour" to our old pals Emily, played by Lily Collins, Mindy, played by Ashley Park, Gabriel, played by Lucas Bravo, and her good old co-workers Julien and Luc, played by Samuel Arnold and Bruno Gouery.

How do you pronounce Emily in Paris?

Netflix took the liberty of reminding viewers how to pronounce the title of the popular show, revealing, 'Friendly reminder Emily in Paris is supposed to be pronounced with a French accent so 'Emily' and 'Paris' rhyme'. (sic)

How did series one of Emily in Paris end?

If you binge-watched the first series like we did, you'll be aware that main actress Lily Collins, who plays the lead role of Emily, is in a little bit of a love triangle with chef/neighbour Gabriel, and Mathieu.

Although she is 'dating' fashion designer Pierre Cadault's nephew Mathieu in the final episode of series one, things take a turn when she ends up in bed with Gabriel, something fans were hoping for throughout the whole series.

But after discovering Gabriel will now be staying in Paris, and not moving back to Normandy, a very awkward plot twist has been perfectly set up for the next series.

Netflix bosses confirmed in January 2023 that the fifth and final series of Stranger Things had officially started production! Despite this, there's still no word yet on a release date.

Gavin & Stacey

Five years after THAT cliffhanger ending of the last Gavin & Stacey Christmas special, Ruth Jones and James Corden have now confirmed they've written another Christmas special for 2024! Sharing the news in May, the pair confirmed the brand new episode will air on Christmas Day.

Outnumbered

BBC bosses confirmed in May that award-winning comedy Outnumbered will return for a brand new Christmas special in 2024! The original cast Hugh Dennis, Claire Skinner, Tyger Drew-Honey, Daniel Roche and Ramona Marquez will all reprise their roles. The special is expected to air on Christmas Day.

Celebrity Big Brother

Following the first rebooted series in 2024, which welcomed celebs such as Louis Walsh, Sharon Osbourne and David Potts, it was confirmed that Celebrity Big Brother will be returning for another season in 2025!

The Night Agent

After series one was Netflix's most-watched show of 2023, bosses were quick to commission The Night Agent for a second series!. Although we don't have an official start date just yet, in October 2024, bosses confirmed it will land in Winter 2025. The show has also now been renewed for a third series.

Hijack

Following series one back in June 2023, Apple TV bosses have now confirmed Idris Elba will return for a second series of Hijack! No plot or start date has been announced just yet, but reports are rife that production will begin soon.

Unforgotten

Following the tense ending to series five in April 2023, ITV/STV bosses were quick to reveal drama series Unforgotten had been commissioned for a sixth series. Filming started in March 2024, so we imagine the new episodes could land later in the year.

Black Mirror

In March 2024, Netflix bosses revealed a seventh series of Black Mirror will land in 2025, with one of the episodes set to be a sequel to series four episode USS Callister. No official date has been announced just yet.

Gladiators

Following the hugely successful first series, BBC bosses were quick to announce Gladiators had been commissioned for a second series! Although there's no official start date, filming took place in August, which also included a celebrity special!

The Bay

ITV/STV drama The Bay was immediately renewed for a fifth series, following the fourth in 2023. Marsha Thomason is set to reprise her role as DS Jenn Townsend. Although there's no start date just yet, filming wrapped in July 2024.

Deal or No Deal

Deal or No Deal was one of the most successful reboots of 2023, so it's no shock bosses were quick to renew the show for a second series. Applications for series two are open now, with Stephen Mulhern expected to return later this year.

I'm A Celeb

It is the show we all look forward to towards the end of the year, and this year is no different! Ant and Dec are set to head over to Australia alongside more brave celebs for the 2024 series of I'm A Celeb. The popular entertainment show usually begins in November.

Dancing On Ice

Stephen Mulhern and Holly Willoughby are set to return in early 2025 for a brand new series of Dancing On Ice. Which celebs will sign up this time round?

Race Across The World

Series four of Race Across The World was one of the BBC's most popular shows of the year, and they were quick to renew the show for a fifth series. With applications closing in May this year, we suspect the show will air around Spring 2025.

The Traitors

Following that tense final of The Traitors series two earlier this year, fans cannot wait for the return of the show, with series three expected in early 2024. In August 2024, BBC bosses also announced the show had been renewed for a fourth series, with filming set to begin in 2025.

Love Is Blind: UK

Following the successful first series of Love Is Blind: UK, with hosts Matt and Emma Willis, Netflix have now confirmed the series has been renewed for a second instalment! Applications are open now, with series two set to air in 2025.

Red Eye

ITV/STV crime drama Red Eye become one of the station's biggest shows in 2024, so it's no surprise it was commissioned for a second series. Filming is due to begin in 2025, but there's no word on any release date just yet.

Mrs Brown's Boys

The popular controversial comedy Mrs Brown's Boys is returning for a fifth season! The show made its almighty return to screens in 2023, with fans delighted at the news that not only do we have some festive specials on the way - but a brand new mini series coming our way - with filming set to begin in 2025.

Emily In Paris

That's right, after things got pretty interesting for Emily Cooper as we saw her set up camp in Rome, starring actress Lily Collins answered our prayers as she confirmed that a fifth season is officially on the way - with fans taking it upon themselves to dub the season 'Emily In Rome'.

Trigger Point

Following two successful series, ITV/STV bosses announced in October 2024 that they'd commissioned Trigger Point for a third series, with production set to begin in London in 2025. Vicky McClure will reprise her role as bomb disposal operative Lana Washington, with series three expected to air sometime in early 2026.

Nobody Wants This

It was one of the most popular rom-coms of 2024, so it's no surprise Netflix bosses were quick to renew Nobody Wants This, starring Adam Brody and Kristen Bell. Although there's no exact release date for series two just yet, we suspect it will be sometime in 2025.
