Call the Midwife creator teases 'big news' for Trixie in series 12
Trixie is back!

Fans of Call the Midwife were thrilled with the news that the show would be returning for a 12th series in 2023 and a Christmas special in December. This series will see the return of Trixie Franklin, played by Helen George, who left halfway through series 11 as Helen was pregnant.
Filming for series 12 is currently underway, and the show's creator Heidi Thomas has now revealed that Trixie will be involved in some big storylines in the upcoming series.
Speaking to Radio Times, she said: "Trixie rejoins us. And something interesting and rather wonderful will happen for Trixie this series, so she has big news coming up – which we probably won't unveil just yet."
We will likely see more of Trixie and Matthew's blossoming relationship, although it's unlikely that she will be pregnant in the upcoming storyline as they intentionally hid the actress' baby bump, and Helen commented: "It wasn't a correct storyline to choose for the character. It wasn't right for Trixie to be pregnant."
Fans will also be thrilled to know that the series has already been renewed for a 13th season. Addressing when the show might come to an end, actor Stephen McGann told Digital Spy: "We're all very happy with where it's going. I think, historically, it has a natural, general timeline.
"It won't go on forever, because it wouldn't go on forever. If you stick to a level of historical accuracy, it won't go on in that form forever, because it didn't back then. So therefore, it has some kind of an end mark.
"But I think (the creative team) are far too clever A) not to know when that would be, or B) not to make it work within the framework of history."
