Former Coronation Street actor Ryan Thomas is joining a rival soap
A new start!
He's known by most as Jason Grimshaw in Coronation Street, but actor Ryan Thomas is set for a move to Australia, as reports suggest he's landed a role in Neighbours.
Ryan, who starred on Coronation Street for 16 years, will reportedly play a mysterious newcomer by the name of Raphael.
Although bosses of Aussie soap Neighbours are yet to confirm the reports, a source told a national newspaper, "Ryan’s news may come as a bit of a surprise but people are confident he’ll make a big splash on Neighbours. He’ll bring his Corrie fans with him and earn a new legion of fans along the away.
"He is just waiting on his visa. Then he’ll be moving to Australia to film the show."
Ryan left his role in Coronation Street back in June 2016 after admitting he wanted a new challenge. Since then, Ryan has appeared on a number of TV shows including Channel 4's Celebrity Island with Bear Grylls.
Speaking at the time of his departure from Coronation Street, Ryan said, "For me, it’s about testing myself, getting creative, learning something new and playing a different character, which is something I’ve never done in 16 years.
"Even auditioning is exciting as the whole process is not something I’ve been involved in for many years. I’m going to move to London and see what happens.”
Continuing with the Australian theme, Ryan has also been recently rumoured to star in the upcoming new series of I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here.
After the success of his brother Adam on last year's show, bosses are reportedly keen to sign Ryan up along with a number of other celebrities.

It hasn't yet been confirmed when Ryan will appear in popular soap Neighbours.
