Sam Bailey's Debut Album On Course For No.1

Will she be the first X Factor winner since Alexandra Burke to hit the summit?!

Sam Bailey’s debut album ‘The Power of Love’ is on course for the number one spot this week.

Since its release yesterday, the record has sold over 15,000 copies, that’s 4,000 more than its nearest rival ‘Going Back Home’ by Wilko Johnson and Roger Daltrey.

If Sam successfully secures the top spot on Sunday she will become the first X Factor winner since Alexandra Burke in 2009 to debut at no.1 with their first album.

Subsequent winners Joe McElderry, Matt Cardle, Little Mix and James Arthur all failed to reach the chart summit.

The all-conquering One Direction, who came third to Matt Cardle and Rebecca Ferguson in 2010, only managed to reach no.2 with their debut ‘Up All Night’ despite it going on to sell over 5million copies worldwide.

Containing 10 cover versions and one original song (‘Treasure’), ‘The Power of Love’ boasts guest vocals from Nicole Scherzinger (‘And I Am Telling You’) and Michael Bolton (‘Ain’t No Mountain High Enough’).

Sam revealed earlier this month that she is pregnant with her third child. A UK tour scheduled for October has now been pushed back until January 2015.
