Rihanna wants eighth album to be "timeless"
She has big ambitions for the record
Rihanna is hoping her long-awaited eighth studio album will be a “timeless” tour-de-force.
It’s two-and-a-half years since the usually prolific songstress released a full-length album, 2012’s ‘Unapologetic’, and unfortunately we may be waiting a little bit longer for the next one.
The good news is that when the material does see the light of day, Rihanna reckons it will be her best music yet.
"I've made a lot of songs that are just really big songs...they just blow up,” RiRi told MTV. “Not that they weren't real music, but I just wanted to focus on things that felt real, that felt soulful, that felt forever.
"I wanted songs that I could perform in 15 years. I wanted an album that I could perform in 15 years, not any songs that were burnt out."
She added: "I find that when I get on stage now I don't want to perform a lot of my songs because they don't feel like me. I want to make songs that are timeless.”
Kanye West has previously revealed himself as an executive producer on the album, which is also rumoured to feature musical alchemy with DJ Mustard, David Guetta and Kiesza.
It’s expected that the album will feature her Kanye/Paul McCartney collaboration ‘FourFiveSeconds’ and the recently unveiled ‘Higher’.
Rihanna’s ‘concept album’ soundtrack for the upcoming animated movie ‘Home’, in which she stars as main character Gratuity "Tip" Tucci, is released next Monday (23rd March).
Also starring Jim Parsons, Jennifer Lopez and Steve Martin, Home hits UK cinemas on Friday 27th March.
