Lady Gaga Dubs Meat Dress Her Favourite Outfit Ever
But she admits "it smelled really bad"
Lady Gaga has singled out the infamous meat dress she wore at the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards as her favourite ever outfit.
The flamboyant pop megastar may have hundreds – if not thousands of outfits to choose from – but she admits there’s one that stands head and shoulders above the rest due to its potent symbolism.
Explaining her reasons on Andy Cohen's late night Watch What Happens Live, Gaga said: "One, because I never thought I'd be able to say the phrase, 'Cher, will you please hold my meat purse?' That was pretty exciting."
“Also, on a more serious note, it was because Don't Ask, Don't Tell (an act prohibiting gays, lesbians, and bisexuals from serving openly in the United States Armed Forces) hadn't been repealed.
"I wore the meat that night as a statement about equality - that we're all equal because we're all flesh, right? It's kind of morbid but when we're dead it doesn't matter what your sexuality is."
“That's not all that the meat dress offered, though. I didn't want to talk to any celebrities, and it smelled really bad!"
Lady Gaga dominated the 2010 MTV VMAs scooping eight separate awards including a whopping seven for ‘Bad Romance’.
Boasting the chart smash ‘Applause’, Lady Gaga’s third studio album ‘ARTPOP’ is finally released on Monday 11th November.
